Melnik is a town in in the southwestern Pirin Mountains and is about 440 m above sea level. The town is an architectural reserve and 96 of its buildings are cultural monuments. With a population of 385, it is the smallest town in Bulgaria, retaining its city status today for historical reasons.

Wine Tasting Tour to Melnik

This guided tour takes you to boutique wineries in Melnik. Melnik is Bulgaria’s smallest town, famous for both its splendid wine and its striking sandstone spires. Surrounded by lush vineyards, this vibrant little town has a spectacular backdrop of sandstone spires. Climb St. Nicholas Hill to see the ruins of Despot Slav’s fortress, visit the Kordulopova Kushta once home to wealthy wine merchants and finish off the day with a tour and tasting at one of the area’s finest wineries.
