Snowshoeing is an extension to hiking, it involves walking over the snow. The snowshoes are specially designed that feature a wide frame to distribute the weight of the person which allows them to travel mainly on top of the snow rather than through it. These are simply attached to your normal winter footwear using adjustable straps.
Snowshoeing is easy to learn and is a relatively safe activity so long as the conditions are suitable. This is a great way to enjoy walking in the mountains during the snow season.
Snowshoeing tours are available from December to April each year.
One Day Snowshoeing Tours
Snowshoeing tour to Bezbog Peak in the Pirin Mountains
You will be picked up at 8 am from your Bansko accommodation and after a 40 minutes transfer we will arrive at G. Delchev hut (1485 m a.s.l.). There we take the chair lift to Bezbog hut (2240 m a.s.l.) where we start hiking. From 1.5 to 2 hrs we will hike to the top. The view from the top is absolutely breath-taking – views of Rila, Pirin, and Rodopi Mountains. We take a little rest at the top before going back to Bezbog hut and further down with the chair lift to G. Delchev hut. Transfer back to Bansko.

Snowshoeing day trip from Bansko to the Rhodope Mountains
Snowshoeing day that starts from Bansko and heads east to the high mountain village Ortsevo in thе Rhodope Mountains. During this trip, besides snowshoeing, you can also enjoy a glimpse at the rural lifestyle of the local ethnicity. Although the area is isolated and not popular among the tourists at all, the village offers dramatic views from 1600m above the sea level towards the rugged Pirin Mountains. Optional: you can combine this trip with a ride of the Narrow Gauge Train.
